Honouring Ontario Day

To the HWDSB Community,  

Today on June 1, I am pleased to take a moment to recognize Ontario Day. This is an important time to reflect on the rich history, diversity, and shared values that shape our wonderful province. 

Ontario Day offers us an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the many voices, cultures, and perspectives that make our communities so strong. Across HWDSB, we see this diversity every day in our classrooms, where students and educators come together to learn from one another and build a more inclusive future. 

Ontario Day also reminds us of our collective responsibility to foster safe, welcoming, and equitable learning environments for all. Together, we continue to support student success, well-being, and a sense of belonging in every school. This is vital to the present and future success of our great Province.   

Across the system today, our students will engage in learning that explores Ontario’s past and present. It is an opportunity for us to deepen our understanding and appreciation for the role that Ontario has played and continues to play in Canada. At HWDSB, we are proud that our values of Dignity, Trust, Compassion and Joy are aligned with the pride that we feel for being Ontarians!
